Learning Support Teacher / Assistants

About the jobs

Are you motivated to make a positive impact on the lives of children with special educational needs?

We are looking for dedicated and experienced learning support teachers/ teaching assistants to join our caring learning support team. The successful candidates will play a crucial role in creating a supportive and enriched educational experience for our students. As a support teacher / teaching assistant, you will work closely with students, families, and other key professionals to ensure every student’s unique needs are met.

The positions are as follows: 

  • A full-time learning support teacher (100%) / or part-time teaching assistant (86%) – temporary for one year, with the possibility of extension
  • A part-time teaching assistant (86%) – maternity leave cover
  • A part-time teaching assistant (86%) – temporary for one year, with the possibility of extension
  • A part-time teaching assistant (43%) – temporary for one year, with the possibility of extension

Key responsibilities

  • Create a positive and nurturing classroom environment that promotes growth, self-confidence and emotional wellbeing
  • Foster and build caring relationships with students with various learning needs.
  • Provide differentiated instruction to accommodate the various learning diversities within the classroom
  • Utilise evidence-based strategies to support neurodiverse students
  • Regularly monitor and assess student progress adjusting teaching methods as necessary
  • Foster and build caring relationships with students with diverse learning needs

Who are you?

We are looking for candidates with:

  • A background in education or learning support
  • A passion for creating inclusive and diverse learning experiences
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and external professionals
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of students. 
  • Experience working with students aged 6 – 16 years

The specific experience required for each position is as follows: 

  • Learning support teacher full-time / or assistant part-time 86% temporary for one year, with the possibility of extension. This person should have experience working with primary aged children with behavioural challenges and have a calm and calculated approach to managing behaviour. This person will create tailored learning plans that cater to the unique needs and abilities of each student. Individuals with qualified teacher status or relevant special education qualifications are preferred, but we would also consider candidates with the right personal attributes.
  • Learning support assistant – part-time 86% – maternity leave cover. This person should have experience working with primary children with special needs and/or have the personal qualities to work 1:1 with individuals with special needs.   
  • Learning support assistant – part-time 86% – temporary for one year. This person should have experience working with secondary aged students and feel comfortable delivering a differentiated curriculum in a secondary setting.  
  • Learning support assistant part-time 43% – temporary for one year. This person should have experience working with secondary aged students and competency supporting social and emotional difficulties, including reluctant school attendees. 

Qualifications

The following qualifications are relevant:

  • HKDir approved teaching qualifications (for the teaching position)
  • Qualifications in special needs education, social work, or social care
  • All candidates should have fluent English (minimum B2)
